You can gift or buy miles from September 2nd until September 30th, 2014. If you buy the miles, you will receive the bonus. If you gift the miles, your friend or family member will receive the bonus.
• 1,000-9,000 miles = 25% Bonus
• 10,000-19,000 miles = 50% Bonus
• 20,000-29,000 miles = 75% Bonus
• 30,000-50,000 miles = 100% Bonus

There is a fee for buying or gifting miles. The fee is $0.035 per mile plus a tax recovery charge of 7.5%. GST/HST will be charged to Canadian residents. The fee is determined by the base amount of miles that you are gifting or selling.

The larger the percentage of bonus miles the more it reduces the actual cost of the miles. Below is the breakdown of cost per thousand miles at each bonus level. This does not include the 7.5% tax.
25% bonus – $28 per thousand ($0.028 per mile)
50% bonus – $23.33 per thousand ($0.0233 per mile)
75% bonus – $20.00 per thousand ($0.02 per mile)
100% bonus – $17.50 per thousand ($0.0175 per mile)

As with most gift/buy bonus programs your best deals are going to be on the larger transactions.  Even with the lower cost for larger transactions, buying or gifting miles makes the most sense when you have a specific use in mind and you can determine whether the money spent on the miles is the most economical way to accomplish your travel goal.

Bonus miles will be awarded upon completion of the transaction. The maximum number of Buy and Gift Bonus miles that can be received by one member for this offer is 50,000 bonus miles. All miles purchased beyond this limit will not be eligible for a bonus.

For Gift purchases, bonus will be awarded to the recipient. Only purchases made online are eligible for the bonus. Dividend Miles accounts less than 12 days old are not permitted to Buy, Share or Gift miles. For Gift and Share transactions, the recipient account must also be 12 days old. All purchases are non-refundable.
