Caldas da Rainha is an ancient place that beckons with its rich history and therapeutic thermal springs, earning its name as the “Queen’s thermal springs.”

Legend has it that Queen D. Leonor, intrigued by the healing properties of the waters, established the Thermal Hospital of Our Lady of Pópulo in 1485, marking the city’s foundation. Today, visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the daily open-air fruit and vegetable market at Praça da Fruta, a tradition dating back to the 15th century.

One can also delight in the local gastronomy influenced by a monastery culture, savoring sweet-tooth delicacies like “trouxas” and “cavacas.” And, for a cultural journey, one can explore the renowned Portuguese ceramics at the Bordallo Pinheiro Factory of Artistic Earthenware, a century-old institution shaping global ceramic art. And all just a stones throw away from West Cliffs Golf Resort.
