The Beach House Restaurant on Kauai’s South Shore

On Kauai’s South Shore is the beautiful Beach House Restaurant. It’s nestled next to Lawai beach in sunny Poipu, where the waves crash just below a lovely green lawn. It was recently honored with the Hale Aina Award for the Best Kauai Restaurant for the 16th year in a row. It’s not surprising. The food and the ambiance mix in a gorgeous dance for the senses.

Beach House Restaurant - The Beach

The walls open up so that although you’re seated indoors you feel like you’re outside. It is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the ocean. I highly suggest making reservations. Check the time the sun will be setting then make them for a good half hour beforehand. We were just there a few weeks ago (November), and arrived at 5:30. It was the perfect time to be seated, order a cocktail and watch the setting sun.

Speaking of drinks, I ordered the Mermaid Margarita, a fabulous concoction of Don Julio Reposado Tequila, Lemonade, Fresh Lime, and Lilikoi Puree. My husband got the Lilikoi Mojito, with Koloa White rum, Parrot Bay Passion Fruit Rum, Lilikoi Puree, Fresh Muddled Mint & Lime, Club Soda…yowza!

For our appetizer we started with the Crispy Crab Stuffed Ahi Roll and the Omao Arugula & Goat Cheese “Truffle” Salad. Both were good, but during a previous visit we had the Kauai Grown Beet Salad with Guava smoked alae salt, gorgonzola, micro basil, and truffle Oil and it remains one of my favorite salads to this day! I didn’t even think I liked beets before I ordered it, but I’m a fan now!

For our entrees we ordered the Wasabi Crusted Fresh Island Catch with Lilikoi lemongrass beurre blanc and the special of the night.

I don’t always have desert but we opted to share one and wow am I glad we did! I’ve always been a fan of carrot cake so we ordered their Hawaiian Carrot Cake with Macadamia Nuts, Pineapple and Classic Cream Cheese Frosting. It was delicious! Super moist and the Mac nuts and pineapple added a twist on the regular variety carrot cake. I highly recommend you try it!

The Beach House has been one of our favorites on Kauai for years. On this visit the service was amazing, both friendly and attentive, and the view unbeatable. The next time you find yourself on Kauai be sure you make time for dinner at the Beach House Restaurant. If your evenings are booked, they’re open for lunch too!
