Baxter’s Grill – Tulsa
I found Baxter’s Grill on a recent business trip to Tulsa. I checked in at the DoubleTree Downtown Hilton after a long day on the road. I was hungry and ready for a comfortable atmosphere and good service.

The café in the hotel wasn’t the atmosphere I was looking for, so I asked the cashier if there were any good restaurants within walking distance. She recommended Baxter’s Grill which was just around the corner from the hotel, less than a two block walk.
Baxter’s was just what I was looking for, warm and inviting with friendly wait staff. It was a few minutes past the posted times for lunch specials (11am to 4pm), however, when asked, my server said I could still order off of the menu.
I chose the Pasta & Salad lunch special, a half portion of pasta and a dinner or Caesar salad for $9.99. My Tomato Basil Pasta and Caesar Salad were tasty and nicely presented.
This restaurant is clearly a local favorite and it started filling up for Happy hour as I was finishing my meal. I noticed several people ordering chips to have with their drinks. I asked the server what was special about their chips. She pointed out the Chips and Ranch on the menu, homemade potato chips with Ranch dressing for $4.99.
I was too full to from my lunch special to order any, but came back the next day and had Chips and Ranch with a glass of iced tea for lunch. So indulgent, and definitely not nutritious, but it is obvious why they are such a local favorite!
The restaurant was more crowded during lunch time than on my visit the day before. The service was just as personal and efficient when busy as when there were only a few tables of customers.
If you find yourself in downtown Tulsa I recommend searching out Baxter’s for a meal or Happy Hour drink with some Chips and Ranch.
